Externalized thinking is the result of your thinking efforts externalized or output to an external media. The media can be a piece of paper, journal, phone, laptop, etc. This is to facilitate thinking and clarify the boundaries of thoughts, which means that some level of messiness or mingling of ideas is to be expected, even if the goal is Atomicity.1
